Growing up in Queensland, mainly between the Gold Coast and Bribie Island areas, I had an affinity with the sea and beach life in general from an early age. I rode my first surfboard at about 6 years old (I believe at Burleigh) and have never stopped loving the ocean.
I also love Australia and have travelled extensively seeing some wonderful sights and going to amazing places.
Surfing and the beach have always been a big part of my life.
As a Bribie Island and then Northcliffe Surf Club member, I loved participating in both the social and competitive events. I successfully competed in board paddling and Iron Man events and won the Gold Coast Branch board paddling.
Coming from a large family, there was lots of warmth, fun and friendly (but fierce) competition in my childhood with several of my siblings also enjoying surfing.
Being community minded, I have been involved with Longboard Club events, Disabled Surfing (WA), and other aspects of the community and have received recognition and awards for my assistance.
My other love is Australia. As a long distance truck and road-train driver, I saw much of this wide brown land. After retiring, I bought a caravan and travelled further, from the South West Coast to the Red Centre and up Cape Tribulation and many places between.
As always there are many places not yet visited so there are always plans for more travel … so watch this space for upcoming adventures.
